‘Borgore Ruined Dubstep’ so reads the t-shirt that Asaf Borger, better known as electronic-music’s enfant terrible Borgore, frequently wears onstage or when he’s behind the decks. One of Bass culture’s most popular and controversial figures lands in the UK this month.

The 24-year-old producer/songwriter/DJ is currently leading the new Rave sound and culture, popular amongst dubstep-loving teens and true bass music aficionados alike. Original tracks and remixes (spanning M.I.A. and Rusko to Britney Spears, LMFAO and Passion Pit) have become cross-genre club smashes; he recently collaborated with Diplo on the track ‘Animal’ taken from Yelawolf’s smash, the Eminem-cosigned debut Radioactive.

His Flex EP — his fifth EP of original material — builds on that notoriety with his hardest, raunchiest grooves yet. Flex shows how Borgore’s music is also progressing more than ever, the new EP features both a pounding dubstep version of the title track along with a more hip-hop flavored version influenced by the ‘trap music’ production of Waka Flocka Flame and Lex Luger, in addition to a monstrous track with Dev titled ‘Borgore Vs Dev. The accompanying video to ‘Flex’ – a hilarious, over-the-top spoof of already absurd rap-video excess, directed by Richard Farmer (winner of an MTV Video Music Award for his work on Gnarls Barkley’s innovative ‘Run’ clip) – completes the package.
